This area brings so many great varieties of species and terrain. One of the biggest challenges in our opinion is the HEAT. Whether you are sitting in a tree stand for six hours trying to get a shot on a buck or driving the insanely dusty roads, the weather has a huge effect on the successfulness of a hunt. Just putting on camo and hiking the hills can be a vigorous task. If you hunt in Southern Utah, you learn to cherish the rain.
Many different aspects of where we live makes hunting difficult, however hunting in this beautiful southern Utah desert can be a very rewarding experience. From bugling bull elk, to turkey toms, our region is packed full of some great game. Within 20 minutes you can get away from civilization and get into the back country.
To the northwest we have the Indian Peaks; the elk heard there is amazing. We hunted up there in 2014 and could not believe how many bulls we could see in a day. The deer on this unit are there, if you know where to find them. We have seen some great deer taken off of Indian Peaks.

To the northeast we have Cedar Mountain and Panquitch which brings so many different varieties of hunts. If you like fishing, there are some wonderful lakes and ponds that have some very decent size fish. That mountain range is one of the most beautiful in the area, between Cedar Breaks and Bryce Canyon the entire range brings some great diversity.
Straight East you have the Zion unit, which brings some of the largest Desert Bighorn in the United States. We know several individuals that hunt this unit, and although it is very unique and tricky to hunt, there have been some great animals harvested there.
If you head south you have the Arizona strip which brings one of the most sought after mule deer units in the country. People go crazy for this unit and with good reason; some of the bucks down there are ridiculous. Those are some dang good genes. You also have the Kaibab which is another great unit.
The Pine Valley and Zion units in southern Utah are some of the best general deer units in Utah, probably the reason they are adding the new late season muzzleloader deer tag.
